Joomla! Website Development

The flexibility of the Joomla! CMS software allows us to design killer sites and applications for our clients and then turn them over for the client to manage on their own.  We only have to get involved when the client needs a significant upgrade or expansion.

The World We Want documents the inspirational stories of teenage activists throughout the world engaged in changing their communities and nations. The film documents young citizens’ remarkable struggles in their own words to convince local and national leaders to make critical changes in legislation.

To fully tell their story with widespread significance and impact, The World We Want knew they needed to establish an active internet presence.  This included a website with a Forum, Gallery, and Videos, so global visitors could post, view, and comment on their inspirational stories, as they were happening.  They also needed the site to be easily updatable, so they could post current screenings, exhibitions, events, and press releases.

To meet the objective of having their stories be heard worldwide, The World We Want needed a very aggressive search engine and visibility campaign, in addition to the press they were getting for their documentary.  Making changes worldwide of this nature requires people get involved.  An active Internet presence is key.

Technology

The WorldWeWant website was built on a Joomla CMS platform and utilized several add-on components, including a video component that allow us to place trailers on the site for potential viewers.  In addition, the site has a forum component to provide a sounding board for members of the cast and community.

After a major change in its brand image, it was time for a new website design for the largest transit authority in Ventura County. With its ridership growing and getting more and more connected to the web, its old website, built in "frames" from the ’90s, was just not up to the challenge. SOHO Prospecting was selected through a formal RFP process to work with Gold Coast Transit’s marketing team and design and develop the new website.

Gold Coast Transit needed easier ways of maintaining its frequently-updated content, bus routes, maps and employment descriptions and SOHO suggested an open source content management system (CMS) to do the job. Joomla! was selected for its flexibility, scalability, and open source software, enabling ease of management and platform independence.

Fantastic All Care provides turn-key, professional janitorial services to Southern California and surrounding areas. The company is committed to the highest standards of excellence and professionalism, and they came to SOHO seeking a website that would visually represent that commitment.  They understood that the first impression is the most important, and that if the company website design doesn't look professional, it would say the same thing about the company.  Our development team was able to leverage both the science (such as search engine optimization) and the art (the best use of color, composition, and copy) of effective web development to build a site that perfectly reflected the client’s desired image with consistency and clarity.
