The city is well connected to the rest of the country via a robust transportation and telecommunications system. US 60, Price Freeway 101 intersect the city; I-10 and I-17 are also easily accessible. The city is also part of the Union Pacific Rail System. For air travel, the city has two municipal air fields, Falcon Field and Williams Gateway, and is close to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Almost all of the city is connected via broadband and fiber optic connections are available to many of the areas commercial districts. The city’s Electronic Streets program is working to connect the entire city via a robust fiber optic network. The E-Street program is consolidating network construction contracts to assure that the improved fiber optic network is quickly completed with a low price tag. The local service providers include AT&T, Cox Communications, and Quest Communications.

The goals of the city’s OED is to improve the city’s image, further diversify the local economy, create cooperative public-private partnerships, and collaborate local resources to benefit residents and businesses alike. The OED will focus on long-range regional and local economic issues using the full resources of the local government and business leadership.

One of the OED’s projects is the Town Center Development and Historic Preservation Division. This project will redevelop the city’s downtown area while preserving the rich historical culture and architecture. The project will be a central location for businesses interested in participating to get information on contracts and incentives. The Project has a Town Center Concept Plan and a Redevelopment Plan that will help make the OED’s mission clear and concise, assuring that the project will be completed quickly and effectively.
