Glendale is another major city north of Los Angeles that is commonly associated with Burbank and Pasadena.

Glendale is home to more than its share of entertainment companies and has been the birthplace of a few national chains. DreamWorks SKG, founded by Stephen Spielberg, David Geffen, and Jeffery Katzenberg, is a major multi-media company that produces best selling movies and video games. Other major entertainment companies located in Glendale include ASI Entertainment, Creative Capers Entertainment, Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation, and Warner Brothers Feature Animation.

The city was also where Baskin-Robbins and Bob's Big Boy opened their first stores. Jack Northrop opened his first aircraft factory here which helped make Southern California a major player in the aerospace industry. Glendale is also the site of Nestle's U.S. headquarters.

Glendale has one of the most efficient transportation systems in Southern California. The city is surrounded by four major freeways that connect Glendale with major LA County commercial centers which comprise the largest business and consumer base in the country. Glendale is in close proximity of two major airports; LAX and the nearby Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are located only 30 minutes away, providing Glendale businesses access to one of the largest port complexes in world. Glendale is also has a well developed public transportation system and is part of the LA Metrolink system.

Glendale, with a population of over 200,000, has one of the better school districts in LA County and is the site of Glendale Community College. The city also was the site of the Metrolink crash that killed 11 people in January 2005.
