The city of El Paso is working hard to adjust and thrive in a relatively new post-NAFTA economic environment. The Power of E3 program is effectively recruiting and maintaining businesses.
E3 stands for Education, Employment, and Economic Development. The Power of E3 is part of the Upper Rio Grande @ Work program and works with local businesses to bring better, higher paying employers to El Paso and improve existing businesses in remaining profitable. The system allows companies looking to do business in El Paso a single point of information when they are looking for market data. Companies can pool their resources and work together to attract capital and employees. The program also makes it easier for companies looking to relocate or expand into El Paso to get information and contacts.
The E3 program also provides on-the-job training and other customized training to assist companies looking to employ the most qualified and well trained employees possible. This pilot program will work with groups of five companies in selected industries, and will soon expand to work with companies who have not used the service before.
