The Texas Medical Center is the world's largest health care and medical research institutions in the world. This gives Houston's economy an aspect of durability that assures that Houston will not be solely reliant on energy.
Houston is home to Rice University, one of the nations most well known institutes for higher learning. Ranked 17th by US News and World Report, Rice University can also claim one of the largest endowments of any US private university. With its close proximity to the Texas Medical Center, Rice University is and will continue to be a leading research institution.
For entertainment, Houston can offer many attractions to locals and visitors. Since Houston is so close to the Gulf of Mexico people can easily access the warm tropical sea.
