Lexington-Fayette is in the process of rehabilitating some of its more run down commercial districts. Although the city has had much progress in refurbishing much of the downtown area, but there still is much unused commercial capacity. The city is offering incentives such as tax breaks and low interest loans to companies that are willing to invest in struggling communities.
The city also has a very well educated population, 35% holding bachelor’s degrees, which has attracted many high-tech companies looking for experienced managers and educated professionals. Due to this fact the city has a high median family income for the state and is still enjoying a reasonable housing market.
There are many attractions in the city that attract visitors from all over the state. The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is one of the most extensive air museums in the South. The many horse racing facilities like Keeneland Race Course and The Red Mile Harness track are major regional venues |
