Glendale is another major city north of Los Angeles that is commonly associated with Burbank and Pasadena .
Glendale is home to more than its share of entertainment companies and has been the birthplace of a few national chains. DreamWorks SKG, founded by Stephen Spielberg, David Geffen, and Jeffery Katzenberg, is a major multi-media company that produces best selling movies and video games.
The city was also where Baskin-Robbins and Bob’s Big Boy opened their first stores. Jack Northrop opened his first aircraft factory here which helped make Southern California a major player in the aerospace industry. Glendale is also the site of Nestle’s U.S. headquarters.
Glendale, with a population of over 200,000, has one of the better school districts in LA County and is the site of Glendale Community College. The city also was the site of the Metrolink crash that killed 11 people in January 2005. |
