Search Engine Ranking Factors

Full-size Image of the Search Engine Ranking factor Table

Any of us that are familiar with the periodic table of elements from our high school chemistry class will recognize this presentation of the factors included in Google's algorithm for search engine ranking.  Elements that are related by common properties are grouped in the same column and the weight of the elements changes as we go down the rows.  Of course, the chemistry version of the periodic table the element's weight increases as we go down the table, but in the SEO version of the table the weight decreases.

Very intuitive way of viewing the factors that effect search engine ranking.  Google may have shifted these relationships somewhat with the introduction of Search Plus Your World, as well as the recent "Penguin" algorithm update, but that is the subject of another article.
